How it works

Example Result
The following formula multiplies the values in columns C, D, and E (subtracted from 1) by the each row and sums the results.
=SUMPRODUCT(C5:C9,D5:D9,1-E5:E9)
Without SUMPRODUCT, it is necessary to calculate a subtotal for each row and then sum the totals using a SUM function or similar.
With the SUMPRODUCT function, you can complete the process in a single cell and function without subtotals.
The advantage is that the sheet and formula are therefore simpler.
